Our Physical Education Philosophy

A classical education has always understood that the formation of a person cannot be neatly divided into the intellectual and the physical. At our school, daily physical activity is not an afterthought but a considered part of our students’ whole development — body, mind, and soul educated together. Through structured physical education and the simple, irreplaceable gift of outdoor play, students learn to inhabit their bodies with confidence and care. After school clubs like martial arts in particular offer something rare: they cultivate not only strength and coordination, but attentiveness, self-governance, and respect: virtues as at home in the classroom as on the training floor. We believe children who are well-rested, active, and connected to the natural world are more prepared for the demanding life of the mind that a classical curriculum calls them toward.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6

Arts & Music Programs

From kindergarten through twelfth grade, our students are immersed in the arts not as enrichment, but as formation.

Choral singing, rooted in the Western choral tradition, trains the ear, disciplines the voice, and teaches students to subordinate individual expression to the harmony of the whole.

Liturgical practice deepens this further, as students learn that beauty is not merely made to be admired, but offered.

Fine art instruction draws on the classical and representational traditions, guiding students through careful observation, skilled draftsmanship, and an encounter with the great works that have shaped Christian civilization.

Together, these disciplines cultivate a sense of wonder and a love of the transcendent that endures long after formal schooling ends.

Take your first steps toward a brighter future for your student.

Give them the very best at Saint Paul’s Classical School.
